PICKS |
Albums and songs that I love, great suggestions if you're looking for something new to listen to. I'll be adding to this list on a regular basis, and I suggest that you check things out on iTunes (or your music site of choice) to get the flavor of each. Enjoy. |

Mylo, "Destroy Rock & Roll"
I came to this album through remixes of "Drop the Pressure" and "Doctor Pressure" that I bought on vinyl. Mylo's got a great new sound that mixes in hints of things you'll recognize, all done with a dash of humor. He's also a man after my own heart because he produced most of this album on his home computer in Propellerhead's "Reason" software. Very cool. [Recommended on 4/6/06] |

Bebel Gilberto, "Tanto Tempo"
I love both Bebel's voice and her music. She's the daugher of João Gilberto and Miúcha, both of whom are famous Brazilian musicians in their own right. This is her second album and it's summery and fun. Great for the pool or beach. Also check out the "Tanto Tempo Remixes" album. [Recommended on 4/6/06] |

The Rurals, "Reinterpretations"
My good friend Thomas turned me on to The Rurals a few months ago. Beautiful, smooth vocal house tunes, each one more powerful than the last. It just feels good. [Recommended on 4/6/06] |

Morcheeba, "Big Calm"
The first track, "The Sea", is one of my favorites of all time. It drips with warm sensuality, and the richness of both the vocals and the instruments is physically palpable. Amazingly, the rest of the album lives up that first song. [Recommended on 4/6/06] |

"Jazzmatazz, Vol. 1 "
The always-great Guru managed to outdo himself on this album. Part of the secret of his success was putting together a band whose members include Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd, Lonnie Liston Smith, Ronny Jordan, Courtney Pine, Carleen Anderson, N'Dea Davenport, and MC Solaar. [Recommended on 4/6/06] |
